Real English To Realistic English

Real English and realistic English are important in different conversations. It is used not only in school, at home and in offices but we can use it anywhere. Real English is when you use language to say something while realistic English is when you say something to use language; but how do we use these languages?

Real English that we actually speak, for example in school when your classmates will say hi, how are you? I’m fine and you? But real people almost never say that. People say, hey, what’s up? Or how is it going? Or what are you doing. These are the real greetings that normal people use. To speak normal people, you must learn the real English that they use. To speak normal people, you must learn real English. The advantage of real English is that you can response in a correct way if you can understand what s/he is saying. The disadvantage if you did not understand what s/he says, is misunderstanding. Talking about realistic English, one example of this is when a French student asking a Japanese student the time in English is real. If he ask another French student in English this is realistic, and he is following one of the conventions of the language class.

It is said that there are some real uses of English like teacher – student interaction asking for information, personal opinion, and games. Just like in games, students should play the game to win and to speak English. The important part is the language the game gives rise to, not the language it contains. Of course, before they can use language to say something, the students have to learn it. This is what the teacher is for. It is said that there are two stages: learning and practice. In the first stage (learning) the language is realistic; in the second (practice) it can begin to be real.
