The Debate Club Sponsors a Seminar Workshop on British Parliamentary Debate

On February 20, 2012, the Debate Club of the Language and Letters Division in the College of Arts and Sciences; sponsors a Seminar-Workshop on British Parliamentary Debate. The activity was held at the Media Center of Bukidnon State University, Malaybalay City in celebration of the English Week.

Ms. Richelle Lynn G. Palasan, adviser of the debate Club together with her Debate Club officers headed by their President, Ms. Kristine Ann B. Cruz; prepared for the said activity. Debaters from different Colleges of Bukidnon State University were invited to join the said Seminar-Workshop. This activity aims to introduce the British Parliamentary style of Debate in preparation for the University-Wide Debate Contest.

Ms. Kristine Ann B. Cruz renders her opening remark that was followed by the roll call of the participants. Dr. Hazel Jean M. Abejuela, Chair of the Language and Letters Division, gave a message in connection of today’s activity.

This Seminar – Workshop will never be possible without its resource speaker; a graduate and a debater from Xavier University, Mr. Shidik ‘Zed’ Abantes. He gave enormous tips and pointers about the principles of debating. He explained and expounded the style, difference and the roles of the members of the Debate Team in Using British Parliamentary Style of Debate.

Participants of the said activity underwent a workshop that will harness and develop the theories and tips that were shared by the resource speaker Mr. Shidik. Debaters from the different Colleges of Bukidnon State University are now ready to use British Parliamentary Style of Debate.
