We are talking today about the heart of education process. What is education for? Why do we want our children to attend class? These are not easy questions if we are to give deep answers. But what will happen when there will be a barrier to communication resulting from speaking different languages among student-teacher relationship?

Education could be seen as wings for the progress of the human being. It will help the individual attain his/ her  intellectual, physical, and spiritual or emotional progress. In some ways it helps the individual to live a happier life. But could these be possible when something is giving difficulty to make progress or achieve an objective in education? Especially when there are language barriers in education? Language barriers in education are those barriers to communication resulting from speaking different languages.  In a casual school setting it is believed that people vary in manner of communication. Everyone has its own language coming from different places and ethnicity. Some of these languages are Ilonggo, Ilocano, Waray, Cebuano, Tagalog etc… and when they talk in respective languages certainly there will be clashes and misunderstandings of concepts and words because you may have conflicting or diverse meaning of a certain word. That makes conflict between culture abiding with their practices and customs. One could not understand better when we talk in a different way.

Education will not only create a better human being but will also contribute to the transformation of society. It makes us noble and moves us forward as well. We are summoned to take forward our community. The tool to improve the world is not fighting ideologies as have tried thorough history but knowledge. That tool empowers the people who sincerely want to see a more just world. Now the bottom-line here is for language barriers not to be the hindrance in learning we should take consideration that we must adopt a certain language that is easy to learn and is understandable like English. Through this we could learn fast despite of our cultural differences.
