I’ve been staring at this question for almost a month and I couldn’t really draw out the exact answer for it. It’s quite a challenge to search for answers so; I’ve started of my voyage.
I am a commoner in our place and we don’t belong to the native lands of English which made it our third language. As for me, I am into the so called “general tongue” because I find it interesting to know what it’s about, its beauty and how to use it. So back to my journey in answering this simple yet so complex question, I started it in myself. I reflected on how English made me, or how it helped me out in my life as a student and as a person. It elevated my status in ways where I am able to understand and comprehend more on the complexities of the world especially in communication purposes.
I’ve also observed the people-how did it help them? Most of which made their lives differently. People tend to more confident for they are competent enough in dealing with the demands of the society and the world in general.
All through it, I’ve also seen different downsides of this magnificent language known by different races of the world; it outlives the native language of a place-that is how I see it. As for my Mother Land, most of us tend to patronize more the English power rather than ours; well no one’s of to blame because learning such really is a MUST.
In ending my journey of facing different sides of this question, there’s this realization I got. There really is no BEST language-Why? It is because,English just happens to be the international language at the current time, which is why in most countries it is a compulsive language to learn in school. This may or may not change in the future. However, finally answer the tricky question; I humbly consider it as for now, the Best language because it enabled people to communicate. Simple answer right? But really, it’s the root of all. It made the warfare turned to truce, it made the rich understand the lives of the poor, it made the quiet express their feelings, it made the countries understand each other’s situation and most of all, it paved way for us, people to know the story of our Creator.
All in all, my search was not that bad for me to share what I’ve got in getting the real answer of my own point of view. The important thing now is to understand the intensity of the word BEST because really, there is no best language, each race may claim theirs as the best one, so for my last thought, let us just consider every language as different and unique with others and make this world a beautiful place in ways of rightful communication.
