An Essay writing with the theme: “Embracing the challenges through English” contest was conducted during the English Week Celebration of Bukidnon State University last February 20-24, 2012. It was held in BSU Speech Laboratory where 16 students coming from different courses participated in the said activity.
The following participants were: Roger Keneth Agan, Marvin Piastro, Rigar Boon Micabalo, Julysa Caseres, Vivien Magabang, Stella Fae Salarda, April Rose Lagare, Daun Dayagbil, Joseph Rey Lerit, Dame Aprillae Ponce, Jonah Adaptar, Karla Abellanosa, Irish Clavejo, Roger Pagente Jr., John Mark Timay and Rhigie Ann Pagente.
February 23, 2011 at exactly 8 o’clock in the morning the said activity begun. The students were given a guide question for them to follow – “How does English prepare you to face the challenges as a student and as an individual?”
After 3 hours the students submitted their piece to Ms. Baran and Mr. Lunap, the facilitators of the essay writing contest. Their literary piece was critiqued by Ms. Amor Clarido. And finally, three students excelled in the said activity. Pagente,Roger Jr. C won the first prize followed by Abellenosa, Karla Andrea and Clavejo, Irish as the Third prize winner.
